FINALLY BACK IN STOCK - LIMITED SUPPLY!

In addition to the Seven Sacred Oils which were considered a staple in temple and funerary ritual since the pre-dynastic era prior to 3500 BCE, there arose in the New Kingdom the addition of Five Elemental sacred perfumed oils, all listed together for the first time in the temple of the great pharaohs, Queen Hatshepsut and Seti I, father of Rameses II. They continued to play an essential role, all or in part, with temple rituals for another thousand years. Lists of these Five, and their ingredients were discovered carved on the walls of the Temple at Horus at Edfu, built circa 350 BCE.

The five appear listed in the Temple of Seti I at Abydos in the offerings to both Amun Ra and Ra Horakhty in the order which follows:

1) Madjet, with its sweet styrax, frankincense and prominent lotus note in a Moringa oil carrier, it was often called The Eye of Horus. Spirit. Above and below.

2) Bak - Green Moringa oil with the scents of pine tar, two species each of rare frankincense and pistachia. Earth. North.

3) Ibr - Labdanum in Moringa oil, the most exotically sweet fragrance this side of the Nile. Water. West.

4) Antiu - Myrrh in Moringa oil. The most highly regarded scent of Hatshepsut’s reign. Fire. South.

5) Senetjer - Two types of frankincense and two types of pistachia yield the truly divine scent of the Neteru! Air. East.

Each is a divine perfume in its own right, but when they are applied sequentially, the combined fragrances are out of this world! Try our 2 ml sample size set of 5 today and see for yourself!

Shipped in amber glass bottles with dropper seal, filled by volume. Bottle sizes are: 2 ml, 7.5 ml, 15 ml and 30 ml.. Each cartouche contains the Egyptian name of the oil, written by hand for each order.

Photographs above are of a gold-leaf rimmed calcite perfume jar belonging to 18th Dynasty pharaoh Thutmose III courtesy of the Metropolitan museum, and of my personal Horus the Elder and his Four Sons Canopic jars, carved from local limestone, brought back from Luxor, Egypt. We are currently negotiating with Egyptian alabaster carvers across from the Theban Necropolis in the West Bank, Luxor, to create reproductions of these jars for our Wandering Stars customers… stay tuned!

Please note that these fragrant oils are mixed in a moringa carrier oil at around a 30% perfumers dilution ratio, depending on the fragrances, and are primarily intended for topical use on skin and hair. As such, they may not work well in some water-based essential oil diffusers which only dilute the scent more. Fragrances may remain persistent in water type diffusors despite cleaning, leading to cross-contamination of scents, so Wandering Stars recommends using only pure essential oils or absolutes in units that are dedicated to a particular scent. Even so, these fragrant oil mixtures do work well in diffusor jewelry or on blotter paper for direct whiffing, and especially with air pump style atomizing electronic diffusors where you can exchange 15 ml oil bottles, uptake straws, and connectors for each scent. Visit Diffusor World for highly rated atomizers.
