ANNOUNCING A FRESH BATCH CREATED OVER THE SUMMER SOLSTICE/FULL MOON 2024!

Wadjet Sacred Blue Lotus Anointing Oil was developed from ancient Egyptian temple inscriptions and medical papyri for a truly magical olfactory experience!

Contains: Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea), Mastic (Pistachia terebinthus) and Frankincense Maydi (Boswellia frereana) - both of which were called Senetjer in the texts, Juniper (Juniperus communis), Myrrh (Commophora myrrhum), and Moringa oleifera pure essential oils.

All of these have proven healing therapeutic properties for skin, and so it is not only a lovely perfume fragrance, but great for skin care as well! This pure golden yellow oil harnesses the enlightening power of the Sun with ingredients whose fragrances have been clinically proven to raise ones spirits and counter depression. It makes a perfect anointing oil for deepening meditation and aromatherapy.

Residue of ingredients in our Wadjet anointing oil were discovered in the featured small calcite jar bearing images of the serpent goddess Wadjet, found in Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings (photo courtesy of the Egyptian Department of Antiquities). We are currently negotiating with Egyptian alabaster carvers across from the Theban Necropolis at the West Bank, Luxor, to create reproductions of this jar exclusively for Wandering Stars customers. Stay tuned…

This fragrant oil is truly intoxicating… the living scent of fresh cut blue water lilies and papyrus. The Egyptians called the fragrance “Senetjer” - meaning “Of the Gods”… try a sample with free shipping and see for yourself!

Shipped in amber glass bottles with dropper seal, filled by volume. Bottle sizes are: 2 ml, 12 ml, and 30 ml. Each cartouche contains the Egyptian name of the oil, written by hand for each order.

Please note that this fragrant oil is mixed in a moringa carrier oil at around a 30% perfumers dilution ratio, and is primarily intended for topical use on skin and hair. As such, it may not work well in some water-based essential oil diffusers which only dilute the scent more. Even so, this fragrant oil does work well in diffusor jewelry or on blotter paper for direct whiffing, and especially with air pump style atomizing electronic diffusors where you can exchange oil bottles, uptake straws, and connectors for each scent. Visit Diffusor World for highly rated atomizers. Wandering Stars recommends using only undiluted essential oils or absolutes, such as our Blue Lotus Absolute, in water based units dedicated to a particular scent as fragrances may remain persistent despite cleaning, leading to cross-contamination of scents.

The Serpent Goddess Wadjet

𓇴

The goddess Wadjet (in ancient Egyptian: wꜢḏyt "Green One") was said to be the patron and protector of Lower Egypt, and upon unification with Upper Egypt, the joint protector and patron of all of the Egyptian goddesses, or Neteret, of Egypt.

𓆗

The serpent image of Wadjet is called the Uraeus, and it was the emblem on the crowns of pharaohs and their queens, at the place of the third eye or pineal. She was also the protector of the pharaohs and of women in childbirth. Wadjet was said to be the nurse of the infant god Horus called Hoor-pa-kraat. With the help of his mother Isis, they protected Horus from his treacherous uncle, Set, when they took refuge in the swamps of the Nile Delta.

𓂀

Wadjet was closely associated in the ancient Egyptian religion with the either the Eye of Ra or of Horus, two powerful protective solar deities who were often joined as one god-form - Ra Horakhty. Her solar symbol was always placed above the god’s head in temples, tombs and magickal papyri. The well-known hieroglyph for her eye, the Wadjet or Udjat eye, is pictured above. Sometimes two are shown together, gazing at the viewer, and are said to symbolize the Sun and Moon.

Per-Wadjet, the temple or house of Wadjet, always contained a sanctuary or “birth house” within the temple precinct. Called a mammisi - this smaller temple structure was dedicated to Isis and the child Hoor-pa-kraat, who is interpreted to represent the pharaoh she protects. Thus, in New Kingdom times, Wadjet became associated with Isis as well as with many other goddess deities, and was often depicted together with the vulture Goddess of Upper Egypt, Nekhbet, who filled much the same role. These two together were a symbol of the unity of Upper and Lower Egypt for the remaining millennia of Dynastic rule.
